Whether you are brand new to competitive shooting or looking to sharpen real-world defensive skills, IDPA is one of the most accessible and practical shooting sports available.

Offered Second Thursday each month at 5:30 pm (Register for the match)

What Is IDPA?

International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) is a defensive-oriented shooting sport designed to simulate real-world self-defense scenarios. Unlike traditional target shooting, IDPA emphasizes:

  • Practical firearm handling
  • Accuracy under pressure
  • Safe movement and use of cover
  • Everyday carry (EDC) equipment

Stages are built around realistic situations rather than pure speed or athletic performance, making IDPA especially approachable for everyday gun owners.

How Does an IDPA Match Work?

Matches consist of multiple stages, each representing a defensive scenario. At each stage, shooters:

  1. Receive a stage briefing
  2. Shoot one at a time under the supervision of a Safety Officer
  3. Engage targets while following specific rules for cover, reloads, and movement
  4. Are scored based on accuracy and time, with penalties for errors

Safety is the top priority at all times, and new shooters receive guidance throughout the match.
